Michiana Echo families will be participating in the Second Annual 12 Hours of Soccer on Saturday Feb 15, 2013. South Bend Indoor Soccer will host the event that will begin at 5pm Saturday and end at 8 am the following morning. Echo players are raising pledges based on the number of hours that they play, with funds going to continue development of the new Echo fields at Harris Township Park.
This year Coaches and players from Holy Cross College, Bethel College, and Ancilla College will join the players for games and a special contests during the evening.
150 players participated in last years event. We expect this years numbers to be higher, and have incorporated special times for the younger players that may not be able to spend the night.
Good news from DOC Omar Gallo! Holy Cross Goalie Iain Mc Turk was name Freshman of the Year by the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Association. Ian is from Copenhagen Denmark. This fall Ian worked with Echo as a goalie coach when not protecting the net for his team.
"Any time you have a goal keeper win the freshman of the year award rather than a field player shows the kind of impact Iain had on our Holy Cross program. To have a player at this caliber a part of Echo and training with little kids also says a lot about the direction our club is going in. As DOC I am always looking for the top college players in our area to work with our kids and I am honored that we were able to have Iain work with our young players. The future is bright for him and we wish him all the best and are looking forward to having him continue with Echo"
Congratulations to Ian Mc Turk, Coach Omar, and all the Holy Cross Players for their record breaking season!
